The Best of NGCC

IMG_6409

“It was a dark and stormy night…” is an accurate description of our concert day and evening! Along with flood warnings, a burst hydrant a block from our rehearsal and performance location, blue lights flashing for hours, wet feet, wet hair, wet music, over-excited singers, worried parents, a thermostat that refused to work and a reception area that never got above 58 degrees. Thankfully the performance area warmed up, eventually! And so did the singers. Although our audience numbers were small because of the inclement weather, those who were there were treated to a lively and enjoyable performance. Both the separate choirs and the combined group did an excellent job. Conductors, accompanists, and guest artists did well too – many thanks to Gabrielle Willet, Rebekah Mildenhall, and John Day. The only member who didn’t perform well was our recording device. Alas, the disc was blank at concert end!

NGCC at Chelsey Park

User comments

In preparation for our fall concert, the choirs of NGCC visited the residents of Chelsey Park in Dahlonega on Monday, Nov. 5 and sang for them. The singers of Jubilant Song and the Upbeat Singers did a terrific job and enjoyed the experience. This was the first time that the separate choirs had heard each other’s pieces that have been rehearsed all fall. Now we are coming into the home stretch for our concert, THE BEST OF NGCC, on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Dahlonega Presbyterian Church!

Summer Saturday 2018

We welcomed all our new and returning singers, who gathered Saturday morning, August 18 at Dahlonega Baptist Church to get acquainted, and to launch our new season! In the course of the day, we introduced all the songs for the upcoming concert, THE BEST OF NGCC. We also learned movement games and played around with Conversational Solfege, learning the language of melody and rhythm. Music theory and singing basics were introduced as well. After a lunch break and the final singing session, we began English Country folk dancing, joined by a few veterans who came for the afternoon. After this vigorous activity, a bowl of ice cream was a welcome treat!

Many thanks to the staff and volunteers of Dahlonega Baptist who helped get us set up for the event, and provided the perfect space for the day.

The North Georgia Children’s Chorus announces upcoming season and website redesign

NGCC announces open auditions for the 2018-19 season. Premier Web Works has redesigned the chorus website, resulting in a more eye-pleasing and user-friendly vehicle. An easily accessible interface allows interested families to register online. In addition, the purpose, history, and personnel of the chorus are clearly presented.

“We are thrilled with the website redesign,” says Ruth Purcell, NGCC Director. “Besides being beautiful and more professional, it is really easier to use, both for the administrators and for those seeking information about our program.”

NGCC is entering its 12th year of bringing the joy of singing to children.  A special Summer Saturday event on August 18th will launch the season. Regular rehearsals begin on Monday, September 10. For more information or to schedule a vocal interview, call 706-482-9968, or visit www.ngachildrenschorus.org/
