Another spring term hiatus in 2017, this time due to Ruth’s mother’s health needs. So we have moved our program of whimsy to the fall and are eager to get started! Out of deference to the Georgia Pick and Bow School which meets on Tuesdays, we have moved our rehearsal day to Mondays starting this term. Check your calendars. Has your child always wanted to do chorus and had a Tuesday conflict? Now’s your chance! We also have a new accompanist, Clay Burnett, a sophomore music education major at UNG Dahlonega. You’ll find his bio on the ABOUT page.
Fall Back! concert a great success!
A sizeable crowd attended the fall concert at Dahlonega Presbyterian on November 15, 2016. They not only were good and appreciative listeners, but proved to be good singers as well, as several songs were planned for audience participation. John Day’s impressive guitar skills added a great deal to the performance. The singers sang beautifully, and their enjoyment of the 1960’s song was infectious!
Back in the saddle!
After a medical sabbatical during the spring of 2016, NGCC is back in business and excited to launch our tenth season with the fall concert, FALL BACK!, a program of music from the 1960’s. Melissa Goodwin and Ruth Purcell are the current staff. See our bios on the ABOUT page.
First Annual Recruitment Party
A number of invitations were mailed or given out by area teachers, singers and their families, and former singers to prospective new members “from a secret inviter.” Veteran singer Raven Peterson won the award for the most new prospects recruited! At the party on August 23rd at the Auraria Community Club, new and old singers and families got to know one another, enjoyed a delicious potluck supper, and did some folk dancing afterwards.
During the last week of August, the final round of auditions will take place in both Dahlonega and Dawsonville.
